Switzerland supports the Czech Republic with a total amount of 109,780 million Swiss francs between 2008 – 2012 as agreed in the Bilateral Framework Agreement. The focus will be on basic infrastructure and environment, health care, private sector promotion, research, twinnings and NGO activities in the environmental and social sector.
Swiss contribution in general Switzerland is making a contribution to the ten states that joined the European Union on 1st May 2004 to help reduce economic and social disparities in an enlarged EU. Switzerland’s commitment is an expression of solidarity and the foundation upon which solid economic and political ties with the new EU member states will be built.
Projects The first Projects in the frame of the Swiss Contribution to the Czech Republic have already been approved. Here you can find a list with all planned and approved Projects.
Geographic focus Geographic focus regions are „Moravia-Silesia“ und „Olomouc“, possibly later also the region of „Zlin“. 40% of the Swiss contribution shall be spent in these regions.
Thematic priorities Switzerland’s cooperation with the Czech Republic aims at improving and promoting basic infrastructure and environment, health care, private sector development, research, town twinnings and non-governmental organisation activities.
Contact The National Coordination Unit "NCU" (Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic) is responsible for the overall Swiss-Czech Cooperation Programme orientation and for the identification, selection, planning, implementation, financial management, controlling and evaluation of projects and programmes, as well as for the appropriate use of funds. The Swiss government, represented by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) in Bern, ensures adequate strategic and operational steering.
Project selection and contract awarding Projects are selected by the National Coordination Unit "NCU" (Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic - EU and International Relations Department) according to the thematic priorities and procedures outlined in the Swiss-Czech framework agreement. Project proposals have to be submitted (according to the procedures defined in Annex 2) to the NCU, which will forward them to the competent Swiss authority. Approved projects are subject to public procurement.
